The winners got £250k (I think it was that much)  as well as the house to help with expenses. They use the property themselves but rent it out to help cover costs!! I look up at it every weekend when we go up there and dream...then I think of all the cleaning LOL!!

I bet he is still cute in a 17 year old way LOL. Glad he's a good one, hearing too many stories these days of disrespectful kids.

I so wanted to win the first Lakes house that was up on Omaze. That one was gorgeous and within walking distance of Bowness. The second one was ok but too remote for my liking (much as I like being a recluse at times LOL). You can rent out the first one now for £12k a week!!!!! https://www.lovecottages.co.uk/property/post-knott-lodge-823b

Winters aren't too bad in South Lakes, not much different to what we get in Lancs, further North is another story. Of course there are some roads that you would avoid but that can be the same anywhere.

17...wow!! Has he still got his gorgeous curls? I might spot him if so when he's around LOL!!

My son's got himself a girlfriend up there so I dare say I'll be up there more than I imagined. Already booked a place in Ambleside with the Mrs for August. I do like it up there.

OMG.... your son is now old enough to have a girlfriend? ;D

We are planning to retire to the Lakes. Got an apartment that we rent out long term tenancy to cover costs. Hubby (now 60) retired last year but we're not ready yet!!

Kitty - Raoul Moat …I’m sure I remember something like that too.  Was it Osagi?

Quite possibly though I do also remember Osagi being AWOL for quite a while and possibly before that even happened??

Oh FFS  ;D

I was putting my op off thinking the longer I left it the better it would be LOL!! Even though hubby has retired the company have kept us on the BUPA so I'm fortunate to pick and choose when to get it done!

I've finished physio on the knee which is now at least sustainable enough to help me walk half decent to allow for the hip replacement.

Yes 1ManRiot still in Chorley, not bumped into Boar but I don't wander round locally much. We spend weekends in Cumbria and don't socialise locally in the week. Train at our own garage gym.

Hey DV if ever you're back in the lakes let me know, I'll compare my calves with you LOL!!

Change of topic though, I checked in tonight after hubby watching Raoul Moat......didn't a member or two from MT know the guy? I'm just getting weird feelings watching it that I can't recall!!

Another one here to say don't turn 50 :-/. I'm 57 now and in need of a hip replacement and know so many others who spent hours in the gym also needing/having had replacements!! Not helped by also having completely torn the ACL in the opposite knee!! Told by the surgeon because of my age and that I'm not an elite athlete I'm not a candidate for surgery so am now walking round with a double limp. Hope to get hip done in summer!!

My husband didn't stop training. Wasn't advised to. His condition doesn't require surgery, will need a review in 3 years. They did comment on some calcification in the blood so we just need to pay attention to his diet. Blood pressure medication being increased!! Good luck with yours, will try check in asap after to see how you got on :-)

Bit late on this one but Gangs of London is one of the best series I've watched in a while. Currently working through "Power" and loving that!

My husband had one last week. Nothing to worry about. It's not invasive that it stops you getting on with life as normal. No worse than having an X-ray. The only thing he mentioned which he was warned about is, the first fluid they put in to flush the veins feels cold and then the dye feels hot when it goes in and your arse will feel like it's on fire!!
