General Discussion / Re: Anyone ever had an angiogram?
« on: 20, August, 2020, 21:31:09 pm »
Hi Kitty. Glad your husband did not require surgery. Had my angio last Saturday. The whole procedure went quite smoothly. Did not feel any burning sensation with the dye, but I guess everyone's body reacts differently too it. You can kind of feel the catheter in your arm and your heart, a funny kind of sensation, but not painful. Cardiologist found what he called a bit of plaque on the arteries, but nothing that needs stenting or bypass etc..., and just recommended that I start on statins at 20mg a day to try and prevent or slow any further plaque build up. So on the whole, not to bad thankfully!!

Evening All. On reaching the ripe old age of 50, and with a bit of a family history of heart disease, I decided to put my private health insurance to good use for a change and get a fairly thorough heart check done. Got ECG, Echocardiograph which were both fine, and had an Angiogram last Saturday. The cardiologist found a small bit of plaque as he called it on some of the coronary arteries, but no stents or anything needed, so not too bad. He wants me to start on statins though, at 20mg a day to try and stop/reduce any further plaque built up. My cholesterol levels are normally fine ( when checked off cycle anyway ), but he still seems to wants me on the statins.

Do you know if any interaction between statins and AAS?. I am due to start a new cycle shortly. Just Sust at around 500mg a week for 10 week, and have a bit of dbol left over from a previous cycle, so might run that for the first 4. A bit of adex, about 0.5mg twice a week seems to work for me. Nolva for PCT. Should I stop the statins on the cycle?. Cant seem find much if anything about an interaction between the two on a google search. Thanks

General Discussion / Re: Trouble sleeping

Dont suffer sleep problems very often thankfully, but when I do, its Valium ( Diazepam ) 5mg and a glass or two of red wine and then up to bed with a book and out like a light shortly afterwards. Diazepam can be addictive and your body can build up a tolerance to it, so only use for a week or so to get through a rough patch of not sleeping if stressed etc...

Thanks Kitty. That sounds wonderful  :o

Yeah, my father mentioned it can feel very hot when the dye goes in alright. I hope they go in via the radial artery, as that seems to result in less chance of complications. I heard you are supposed to avoid anything too physical for a week or so whilst the artery heals that the catheter goes in through. Fingers crossed no stents needed. I hope your husbands was all clear too!!

Hi DV. You own your gym or the owner let you use it during lockdown?. The gym I use closed back at start of April and it seems every beat me to the punch in buying Olympic bars from online sports retailers over here. Could not be got for love nor money. I had a few dumbbells at home and a small bench, so had to make do with those and some lunges and dumbbell squats for legs. Gym finally open, but only 3 people at a time allowed in and seem to spend more time cleaning down equipment you've used than actual training in your allotted one hour session!! LOL

General Discussion / Anyone ever had an angiogram?
« on: 23, July, 2020, 19:55:40 pm »
Having an angiogram on August 15th as part a of heart check now that I have hit the big 50 and a family history of heart disease on both sides, with my father having a triple bypass in his late 40's and my Mum has had a few stents, although neither ever smoked, or drank or were overweight and lead a fairly active lifestyle. I started getting a tightness in the centre of chest a few months ago during cardio sessions, so went to see a cardiologist and had an ECG and echocardiogram which were both were ok thankfully, but the angiogram is the gold standard as far as the cardiologist is concerned and he recommended it to fully check the heart. I am a little concerned as it can go badly for a small unlucky few, with a stroke, heart attack, damage an artery, kidney damage from the dye as possible things that can go wrong, but I guess those low risk of those is better than dropping dead dead during a heavy cardio session on the stairmaster  :)

Anyone ever had one?. How long before they were back in heavy training after it?

Protein and other Supplements / Re: Protein shakes

I use BulkPowders Informed Whey, the Vanilla Ice Cream flavour one. A nice tasting whey and does not upset my stomach. They have 40% off deals every now and then and I usually order when those deals are active. Get egg whites there too.

General Discussion / Re: Prostate growth from steroids
« on: 26, September, 2019, 15:53:15 pm »
My father had prostate cancer and thankfully it was zapped with radiotherapy. His oncologist asked if he has sons and what age they were, and he said two, one aged 44 and one aged 47. Me being the younger one. Oncologist advised we start getting PSA tests also. That was about 6 years. My first PSA test came back as 3.6, which was high for my age and want sent to see a urologist for some tests. No biopsy thankfully, just some pee flow tests and an MRI scan. Told me GP to keep an eye on it and if it rises to go back and see him. Not changed much since thankfully. Brothers reading was about 2.5 I recall. Done two shortish cycles in my late 30's, but doubt related to that. Had my test levels checked in the past and luckily I have high natural test levels, so that is more likely the reason.

General Discussion / Re: Fake moon landings
« on: 13, August, 2019, 15:13:40 pm »
The Soviet Union had spies at the top level of virtually every US agency and I'm sure that included NASA also. They would of found out moon landings were faked if they were faked and would of been delighted to embarrass the US if they could. The never found any evidence to discredit the moon landing show its very unlikely it was faked.

Thanks DV. I'll probably run those for around 10 weeks as both seems to come in vials of 10ml. Yeah, not going to go mad on doses at my age and stage of life. Just looking for a bit of a boost in the gym now and then given my test levels have likely being going South for the last 20 years or more and are probably near Antarctica by now.

Thanks DV. I dont see Deca on your list?. Does that cause water retention also?. I was thinking of say 300mg Deca and 250mg Test E a week along with say 0.5mg Anastrozole eod to keep the water off a bit, as I've heard deca is good for gains and helps with joint pain a bit too?

Training & Exercise / Re: Training Splits
« on: 07, August, 2019, 14:40:08 pm »
Train Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Legs, Shoulders, Abs one day. Chest, Back and Arms the next, then Legs, Shoulders, Abs again and so on. Gives me a few days rest between bodyparts, which I feel I need now at the age of 50. Used to do a two day split when I was younger, so same as above, but Mon/Tuesday and then Thursday/Friday.

I pick two exercises per bodypart usually, and do one warm up set and then four proper sets pyramiding up. Rarely do the same workout twice in a row.

Given the size of the universe and the number of planets, I'd say its highly likely like are other life forms around, but the chances of us ever contacting them and via versa is very unlikely given the size of the universe. Needle in a haystack.

Forgot to add. My health insurance provider has a free heart screening service, which consists of an ECG and a stress test and a few other test, and will be getting that done in just over two weeks time to make sure no issues with the 'ole ticker before I start.

Glad to see MtLives forum up and running after MT one gone to forum heaven.

I have a question if any of you guys have a free few minutes thanks. I am thinking about doing a cycle again. Will be 50 in November. Previous cycle experience were a dbol only one and then a dbol / test one back in my late 30's. Both went fine, but then a few life issues popped up which stopped me training at the level that I would have to be at to consider worthwhile to be on cycle. Life has settled down a bit now and I'm back training fairly solidly and regularly for the last year or so and diet is good. Was making fairly good gains with old muscle and strength coming back well in the first 6 to 8 months, but strength and gains have seemed to have dried up a bit now.

My general health is good and never had any high BP problems and lipid profiles are always good whenever I have a bloods checkup with my doc. But at age 50 I guess we start worrying about heart health a little more. Joints are a bit achy these days after 35 years or so of weight training, so would like to include some deca in my cycle if possible. Not really looking to do a massive bulking cycle etc.. as knocking on two stone of weight in 8 or 10 week at this age is probably not the wisest choice, just a moderate cycle that should give some lean gains and bring strength up a bit. Any suggestions?

Thanks
