The article I linked to actually reference a number of meta- analysis all of which did not show any benefit to fibre intake in combating heart disease and bowel cancer.
The reason I referenced the article was not simply because it referenced meta-analysis but because it showed how a lot of how our dietary guidelines originate with vested interest jumping in to profit from theories that do not turn out to be true.

true , but I can post a lot of meta's that show fibre is linked with a direct decrease of CVD and higher mortality , veganism is one extreme, carnivore is another , personally think you can have a balance between the two and be fine.
I like meat and et a lot of it, I also eat a lot of dairy, bread, veg , fibre and EFA's , we can survive on either , i just think skipping food groups to stay part of a diet tribe is a bit dumb . If im dieting then im going to fill up on veg , if im bulking I am going to throw some bread/rice and nuts in there . when my diet was completely devoid of fibre I did get some serious piles ( possibly a coincidence)
So if we can both post metas showing opposite results then the need for fibre seems far from conclusive.
I am with you regarding the tribal aspects of diet although to be fair from the podcasts I've listened to/articles I've read about; the carnivores in question have never come across as anything but people who realise, that for them, vegetable consumption is problematic and that perhaps more people should consider that if they are also having similar problems. That attitude is far removed from the militancy and histrionics that seems to pervade the vegan tribe.
